Gah I go away for two days and all of a sudden you all spring back into life? Well not all, some sites are still rather dead, in particular it’s a shame to see Blog FM just three days away without updating, but not everybody can keep going at that kind of pace I suppose.
First up the official FM Genie Scout website has set up a new “To Do List” section on the site, so you can keep up to date with the new features set to be implemented in the coming days and weeks.
FM Formation have followed on from their look at the German Bundesliga the other day with a look at top German side Bayern Munich.

FM Pro are beginning to really get off their feet with a number of guides appearing on the site in the past few days. It’s just a shame that they appear to be following the conventional idea of what an FM Fansite is all about.
Although obviously it’s a tried and tested way for a site to be run, another disappointing thing is the quality of the content as you’ll see in regards each individual piece.
First up there’s a “general game guide” for FM2007. I was looking for something rather in depth looking at the various areas of the game. Instead I found a very brief look at finances and formations.
Now don’t get me wrong for a long time I’ve been a promoter of simplified bullet point style guides, but a “general game guide” which has 8 tips based solely on finances and formations? Am I the only person who reads this only to be left wanting more (and not in the good sense of the phrase)?
Then we have an “FM Mini Guide” which is surprisingly longer than the general game guide which is strange considering this is supposed to be mini. Then again one couldn’t really get more mini than the original piece.
Nonetheless the content from this is actually pretty good. It’s not an indepth guide giving you all the hints and tips you need to take your team to success, instead it’s a very opinionated and individualistic piece looking at getting started in the wide world of Football Manager.
To be honest I agree with the author on numerous points, especially on picking a team you support and know rather than trying to start from the bottom in some poor attempt to impress the elitist managers among our community.
Finally you can find two very similar team guides looking at Manchester City and West Ham respectively. They’re very in depth pieces rivalling that of other top sites such as Goal Kick and if they were to be able to keep up the production of such guides they’ll be sure to challenge the bigger sites and grow as a community, if that’s the route they wish to go down of course.
You may have noticed a new site appear recently in which members of our esteemed FM Community are asked to submit their details and become part of a make believe team in Football Manager. A site will be created for the team with regular updates on how the side is getting on and the individual goings on of individual players (you guys).
To be honest I’m sceptical, it sounds like far to much work. There’s a reason it hasn’t been done before, not because nobodies thought of it, but purely because of the workload involved. A lot of forums try it and for a short while it works well, but eventually the game and the story peters out and people are left wondering whatever happened to it, and that’s just on a small community forum.
A whole site with regular updates and even interaction with members who can comment on contract interactions etc? Seems far to much, especially when you consider the flaky nature of many individuals within the FM Community.
Nonetheless we’ll see how it goes, check out the site using the link below to see what comes of it.
Finally Manager Crisis have another top player guide looking in depth at Manchester City midfielder Joey Barton.
