Right not that many updates for you today, two very good quality pieces and some sad news from another site, I’ll tell you more about that as we continue… oh and there was another update from another site, but I’ll give that a personal more in depth response before long.
First up top article site Caley and Cleon has another top quality article for your reading pleasure. This particular piece looks at the use of finances in Football Manager. It’s something very few people have tackled in the past from this angle. It’s certainly nice to see somebody not going over the top and calling for feature after feature which will just bog the game down further.
More over a more subtle approach of re-defining the financial development and decline of clubs over a number of years is something SI should certainly be looking into. As I’ve mentioned once before I’m of the belief that the finances are easy to work around by simply putting yourself into debt and then getting a takeover to sort things out, something which Caley highlights briefly in the article.

FM Tactland is back updating again for the first time in a few weeks, which is great to see. Mini bit of news is that the hosting is completely buggered hence the problems with uploading and downloading tactics, lets hope he gets that sorted soon.
Article wise, there’s a new piece up looking at defending free kicks (a similar issue regarding defending corners was tackled by Pitchside very recently). It’s not a straight foreword set of hints and tips which’ll give you instant success in FM2007. Rather it’s a general explanation of the various areas that one must look into when deciding how to defend corners, whilst leaving the final tactical decisions to you.
The sad news mentioned earlier is that FM Updates may be no more. Q has had a number of complaints regarding a ‘supposed’ virus in his data update, which has seen the update become regarded in a less than favourable manner amongst many people, something which Q himself describes as “sabotage” I don’t know the ins and outs of the situation, but it hardly sounds very community friendly does it?
Q is calling for people to respond in the comments section of the site as to whether they would like to see Q continue or not, get over there and give him your support if you’re one of the many thousands of people to love the FM Update, Data Update.
