Are you thinking about leaving your current club in FM2008 and joining a new one? Have you already left your club and taken over at a new one? If so then this is the guide for you, as it'll give you various hints and tips about why to and not to move on and how to settle in quickly and easily when you have moved in Football Manager 2008.
Step one
Only change your club for the following reasons:
Doing very bad
Not getting on with the chairman
Unemployed (Of course)
If it isn't for one of these reasons you could end up leaving a club which has potential and making a big mistake.
Doing very bad: Well it depends on which club you are at for example if you are at Chelsea being 7th could be bad for them so read this short part here to determine if your team is doing bad:
Premiership teams:
Not in top 5 with these teams you are doing bad if you are not in the top 7 you are doing very badly:
Chelsea
Manchester United
Liverpool
Arsenal
If you are in the relegation places with the following teams you are doing very bad:
All of the above teams
All teams apart from the teams that got promoted from the Championship last year and mabye Bolton.
Not getting on with the chairman: Well this sound's a bit weird but it is possible for the following reasons:
Requesting more transfer money
Requesting more wage money
Asking for the stadium or training facilities to be updated
If any of these get rejected we can feel angry and may leave the club without thinking it through but you should only really leave the club because of this if you have had these rejected many times. But this could be a valid reason to leave.
Step two
So you have decided to leave the club for whatever reason you have, one of the worst things you can do is get sacked because what I have noticed is higher profile clubs do not really want you much, next thing to do is declare your intrest in one club that you feel would want you. You will get a email saying if you would be considered. If it says you are the first candidate resign from the club you are at.
Step three
Once you have resigned this sometimes triggers the club that you declared your intrest to sack their manager if they do not declare your intrest in as many other teams as you can to cover your back side if they do not sack the current manager.
Step four
This is for when a job you want comes up. Apply for the job which is simple enough and wait if you get offered the job you might as well negotiate the contract until they say this is your final offer.
The things to negotiate on:
Expand the stadium, this can increase the income that is brought into the club and mabye increase you transfer budget.
Improve training ground, this can boost the reputation of your club which can boost your own reputation.
The things you should not negotiate on:
Wages: What is the point unless you are going for a record it just makes the club pay you more so what is the point it's not like you get the money in real life or in the game!
Length of contract: Does it really matter they can sack you anyway and like before you can't get the money in real life or the game (in case you don't know i'm talking about compensation) and you can resign when you want so it doesn't matter.
Once you get a contract which you like accept the offer.
