A must-buy centre-back for any team. A wonderkid with excellent stats. He will be usually targeted by the big sharks of European football, but he will probably be keen on moving to a not so big club. So, hurry up and sign this lad because the sale value of almost 10M is nothing compared to what will be if signed by a big team.
I don't remember him in FM2007.
Breno was born in Cruzeiro Brazil on the 13th of October, 1989. He started his career at the tender age of 14 when he joined the Sao Paulo youth team. In 2006 he won the Campeonato Paulista U-17 with Sao Paulo. He moved to the first team a little while into the next season when he was 16, and has played there ever since. Now 18(but at the start of FM he is 17), he plays regularly for Sao Paulo, and is a part of the U-20 Brazilian set-up. He is currently being chased by many of the biggest clubs in Europe, among them are Real Madrid, Fiorentina and Juventus.
Technically:
Technically, Breno has what a defender needs, and only what a defender needs. In other words, he is not the type of defender who will help chip in with goals like Sergio Ramos or Gallas. He is not the traditional Brazil - type defender, but could be compared to someone like Barzagli. As a defender, he is sound, a hard tackler, better at marking than a teacher and is a great header of the ball. Besides that though, Breno has very little to offer on the technical front. His passing is decent which insures that he doesn't make many silly Cygan esque mistakes, but he is sometimes caught while receiving the ball, or unable to control very well when given a tight back pass. Still, Breno is a defender, and is sound at stopping the opposition from scoring or getting into opportune positions, which is his job.
Mentally:
Breno is a tender 17 years of age, so mentally; he will not be at his peak as yet. Still though, he is quite mature for someone so young. He is very into tuned into the game, which is key for a defender. This is the main reason why his lack of dribbling and controlling is not as noticeable as it would appear when looking at his stats. Because of his concentration, he is able to get to the ball before someone else would, and ensure he doesn't make mistakes. Another reason his lack of dribbling is not noticed is because of his positioning. He is always in a position with space so he has time on the ball, and defensive wise, he gives the opposition very little angle to shoot. He is not a lazy player, and will cover a slower partner quickly because of his positioning and his work ethic. His only main problem mentally, despite his tender age, is his playing of football off the ball. When the ball is in the defensive area, his positioning radars start blaring and he is in a very good position to stop the opponent or to receive the ball. When the ball is not on his side of the pitch however, he can be seen straying a bit off his intended target, and leaving players open. Luckily though, he is young and this will change with experience.
Physically:
Physically, Breno is one heck of a player. Stacked almost like a wrestler, this lad nears 200 pounds and is a tree at 6ft.2, 6ft. 3. To add to the dismay of opponent strikers, he is a frog, and can jump higher than most vertically challenged players, and ever more than the taller lads. He is certain to win almost every aerial battle, and if trained correctly he can become a great player for corners. Sadly though, because of his lack knowledge off the ball, and other poacher type attributes, he is not yet useful in corners. He is strong and fairly quick, and added with his positioning, very few players will pass him. Also, he has great stamina and can play game after game without needing a rest or becoming jaded. This is great because you will very rarely need to buy many back ups with him in the ranks. Finally he very rarely gets injuries, which adds to his many positives. All in all, Breno is the ideal physical defender.
In Conclusion:
In conclusion Breno is a defender who is already at a level to play in the best and hardest leagues in the world. He is a great prospect for the big teams, as he can act as cover, and can also come in and hold his own. Besides that, he has great potential, and is a quick learner whose attributes and ratings skyrocket after a few years with the big guns. He is fairly consistent for a youngster, but of course he can be hot headed at times and make a few mistakes. Again, gladly, that can change with experience. He does get a few cautions at times and you may have to get stern with him on reckless challenges. His reliability for a youngster is outstanding, and you will very rarely see him loose one on ones. He is probably best paired with a much older, more experienced player(Cannavaro, Carragher, Nesta) as they compliment each other perfectly: The more experienced centre backs making up for his lack of experience, and him making up for their lack of pace and coming in to cover their side as well as his own. Breno probably is one of the best upcoming centre backs in the game and he is a real deal, coming to your team for about 4-7 million pounds, depending on your team.
