Overview:
Having played at this level a number of times, this team will struggle. If you are not careful you will be relegated from League Two in no time at all. You have a good Goalkeeper, which should keep the team in most games.
Expectations
The media predicts a 15th place at the end of the season. The expectations of the board and the supporters is to establish the team in the league with in a two year plan. This doesn’t place a great deal of pressure on you as the manager, unless you start off very poorly. With some good buys and hard work you can easily accomplish what the board wants.
Goalkeepers
You start off with two goalkeepers in your squad. Your best goalkeeper is by far 35yo Lee Harrison, who has played as high up as Coca-Cola Championship level, with Charlton. He has some good stats in One on Ones and Throwing(13), and his low Eccentricity(2), helps as well. The other goalkeeper in the squad is 22yo Robert Beckwith. He has good Mental and Technical Abilities, but his Goalkeeping Attributes themselves don’t install a lot of confidence.
Best Goalkeeper: Lee Harrison
Defenders
You have 6 players that can play as defenders in the squad. The best DR you have is 29yo St Kitts and Nevis import Sagi Burton. His backup will be 35yo Ian Hendon, who will actually be playing on the other side of the park. The only DL in the squad is 23yo Cypriot Nicky Nicolau. He has some good stats for this level, but they are more suited for a ML, IMO. He will only be backup for this position. The leading DL as has already been mentioned will actually be 35yo DR/C Ian Hendon, who has unbelievable stats for this level of competition. If you were to buy a player this is the position you would buy for, as Ian Hendon is getting long in the tooth, so won’t be sticking around for too many more years. Your best DC is 21yo Frenchman Kenny Gillet, who is a well rounded player. Your other DC will be 20yo Irishman Joe O’Cearuill. He has some good stats, and will cover for the slight lack of pace from his DC partner. With him being so young, he should come on well also. The bench player to backup the DC’s will be 22yo Nigerian Ismail Yakubu, who with the right training, should come on well.
Best Defender: Ian Hendon
Midfielders
In the MR slot, the best player is 20yo MC Max Porter. He is unconvincing in the position, but he is the better of the players for the position. His backup will fall to 18yo Youth contracted player Danny Hart. He needs some work, but should be coming on strong come the end of the first season. In the ML position, your best player is 21yo Jason Puncheon. He will stop most attacking raids from coming down his side of the field. The backup for his position will be 21yo Ashley Carew. This is where you need to buy a player for. Ashley Carew is not good enough for this level of competitive football, at the moment, and may never be. His Technical and Mental Attributes let him down. The only thing he really has going for him, is his Pace(14). The MC slots I would run an MC alongside an DM. The MC to play in the middle is 24yo Michael Leary. He has some good stats, and will work hard for the team. Playing alongside him, I would go with 25yo Neal Bishop, who needs some training for his Technical Attributes. Their backup will be left to 23yo Trinidad and Tobago player Jason Norville, who is the only midfielder left in your squad.
Best Midfielder: Jason Puncheon
Strikers
In the strike force you have 3 ST. The first problem you strike is the fact that 2 of your ST’s are not that good. The first thing I would do, is go into your Reserves squad and promote 32yo Guiliano Grazioli. He is your number 2 ST. His stats are very good with Finishing(13), Heading(11) and Technique(14). Beside him I would play 22yo Welshman Adam Birchall. His Finishing(13), Composure(10, and Pace(14), should ensure plenty of Counter Attack goals. Off the bench I would be running 19yo Ivory Coast import Stephane Seanla, who is mediocre at best. You could use another good ST, to give Stephane Seanla time to mature.
Best Striker: Adam Birchall
Sales
The first person I would sell, is Anthony Thomas. I don’t think he will cut it at this level, let alone after a promotion. The next person would be Ashley Carew
Buys
I would look for a quality DL, a young one to train up while Ian Hendon is still around. You also need a quality ST/FC, and a good ML.
