Superleague Story

Here you can find a story looking at one persons attempt in a world super league of all the worlds greatest football teams.
First of all I'll apologise for not updating for so long but I've had other things to do.
With that out the way I'll tell you about my newest save, I've been busy creating a FM World Superliga, using the English league system, that was originally going to be used for an online game (I couldn't get enough players) but I thought I'd give it a go and see how I do. After many hours spent creating one only to be met with several error messages I just downloaded someone else's and edited it from there (I'd give the guy some credit if I could remember who it was).

I decided to take over as Liverpool again. My transfers were much the same as the last time I played as them: lots of youngsters, Ricardo Quaresma (£15m), Antonio Barragan (£475k) and Martin Skrtel (£4.5m) although this time I decided to bring Luis Garcia (£5m) straight back from Athletico Madrid while Peter Crouch (£12.25m) heads the other way. Not bad at all even if it is making my finances look a bit daunting again when taking the owners' debts into account.

You join me on the October 10th and I'm sitting in 8th position. I haven't done too badly and nothing particularly spectacular has happened either; I've lost just 3 games, all ending up 1:0 against AC Milan, Real Madrid and, flukily, Sevilla in games that could of gone either way and managed some decent games like a 2:2 draw against league leaders Barca at the Nou Camp having led 2:0 at half-time, winning 2:1 against runners up Man United away plus a convincing 3:0 thrashing of Valencia. The rest of my matches I'm happy with (apart from a 0:0 draw against struggling Porto) as draws against teams like Juventus and Arsenal are good results and wins against Sao Paulo and Sporting Lisbon are to be expected. One thing that is bothering me is the lack of goals coming from Fernando Torres, who's managed just 3 goals in the league, but I'm putting this down to my defensive tactics against the bigger teams hopefully the upcoming run against the lesser ones should see his form pick up.

Unfortunately I'm out of the league cup (renamed the Mickey Mouse cup) after a 2:1 defeat against fellow Superliga team Bayern Munich in the 4th round. Fernando Torres put us 1:0 up in the 13th minute before earlier transfer target Bastian Schweinsteiger equalised just before half-time then in the 74th minute substitute Lukas Podolski put the Germans though after a poor clearance by Steven Gerrard. I couldn't complain about the result after what was a very even game but I did learn that I can't quite give the reserves a run out like I could in "normal" saves meaning tired players. In the second round my second string side staged a comeback to beat Olympiakos 4:3 and a weakened, although still with the likes of Reina, Torres, Gerrard and Carragher beat Fiorentina 1:0.
I'll most likely update again at the end of the season so keep checking back.
