Find out everything you need to know about Alex Bruce in Football Manager 2008.
Alex Bruce, son of Manchester United great Steve Bruce, is a defender for Championship chasers Ipswich Town. In this guide I will proove why he may be a great signing, pointing out his strengths and weaknesses, aswell as how he can improve as a player.
Alex Bruce: Strengths.
Like all defenders, Alex Bruce possesses that spirit that enables them to take control when they are under-pressure. At twenty-two, Norfolk-lad Bruce has many accurate stats and having alot of potential. Alex Bruce is very good up in the air. With his heading statistic at seventeen and bravery also seventeen, this enables Bruce to win headers when an opposing cross is whacked in. With a lateral tackling stat of sixteen, he will rarely get into the wrong sorts of challenges and can win the ball back calmly. Another great statistic for Alex Bruce is how he influences the men around him. With an appreciative sixteen for the influence statistic, he is born for captaincy and when the going gets tough, he will lift your players’ heads.
Alex Bruce: Weaknesses.
Like every-other football all around the ever-growing universe of Football Manager, Brucey comes with his down-sides. He has varied and even weaknesses, but the main-two would be flair (4) and off-the-ball (8), which will provide useful for defenders alike, but unfortunately not for Big Bruce. Flair is an important stat because it enables a player to use his mental fitness for physical attributes such as how a player passes or sprints. Off-the-ball isn’t as important, but does have a role to play for defenders. This is how organized a player is when he is not in posession of the ball, meaning if Bruce was staying back whilst Ipswich Town were on the attack, the off-the-ball attribute would take effect by Brucey organizing his fellow defenders and/or getting up the pitch, depending on how you play your players/formations.
Alex Bruce: Why would you buy him?
Alex Bruce is good and not-so good. He has his attributes that are perfect and ones that need severe practise on. But don’t get too critical on ol’ Brucey, he’s twenty-two! If you like to play like Arsène Wenger and have you’re youngsters playing your matches, Alex may be the one for you. If you like to have a good backup squad where players don’t mind if they keep the bench warm, Alex may just be the one for you. With personal preference on how you play the game there are many reasons as to why Alex Bruce will benefit your squad or even justify his transfer.
Alex Bruce: The Verdict.
Alex Bruce is the one to watch for a season or two if you are not sure on buying him. He isn’t a must-buy, but if you do make the purchase, he will provide useful. Brucey isn’t really at the top of his game just yet and hasn’t really had any experience in first-team, competitive football in higher-standard leagues and may not make the mark, but we may think that with any other Championship player.
Rating: 6/10.
Recommended For: Premiership strugglers, Championship chasers, League-One giants.
Recommended Budgets: £700k-£1.8m to prise him away from Portman Road, aswell as a wage-budget of £1k-2.6k.
Position: Defender (Right, Centre)
CA/PA (Highlight to see - Spoiler): 120/135.
