Overview:
Well this is my first delve into the Norwegian Leagues, so please be gentle on me. I don't wish to offend anyone with spelling of names/places, but I don't have the capability of adding the extra pieces to letters. From the outside looking in, this team is very solid, for the League they are in. This showed in real life, with their magnificent run in the Champions League.
Expectations:
The media predicts a 1st place at the end of the season. The expectations of the board and the supporters is to win the league with in a two year plan. This does place some pressure on you as the manager, to live up to these expectations, however you have a magnificent wage budget to work with. A top two place should be achievable, if you sign one or two good players just to finish off the side, even though they have a great side already.
Goalkeepers:
You start off with two goalkeepers in your squad. Your best goalkeeper is Lars Hirschfeld, who Tottenham, Dundee Utd and Leicester fans should remember, as he played for all of them. He has some good stats in Reflexes(17), Agility(18), Jumping and Natural Fitness(16) and a low Eccentricity(4). At 28 he still has a few good years in him. The other goalkeeper in the squad is 24yo Alexander Lund Hansen. He won't let you down as a backup, but he is no Hirschfeld.
Best Goalkeeper: Lars Hirschfeld
Defenders:
You have 10 players that can play as defenders in the squad. The best DR you have is 35yo Bjorn Tore Kvarme. His biggest problem is he isn't getting any younger, and is slowing down in his old age. His backup will be 23yo Fredrik Stoor. There are a couple of youngsters that can play the position as well, but they need time to mature and train. The leading DL in the squad is 25yo Mikael Dorsin, with great stats across the board. His backup will be 20yo Andreas Nordvik, who needs a bit of work. If you were to buy another player for the team, this is the position you would buy for. Your best DC is 28yo Uruguayan Alejandro Lago, who is a well rounded player, with pace. Your other DC will be 28yo Finn Miika Koppinen, who has some really good stats where it counts, Marking(16), Tackling(15) and Heading(17). Their backup will be 19yo Steffen Mathisen, who won't let you down, but needs some serious training.
Best Defender: Mikael Dorsin
Midfielders:
In the MR slot, the best player is 23yo Ivory Coast import Didier Konan, who will not only shore up the right side, but will also lend a hand on attacking raids. His backup will fall to 20yo Per Ciljan Skjelbred, who has some fantastic stats, but will be playing off the AM L slot. Instead you could play 18yo Albert Berbatovci as backup, but he won't be ousting Didier Konan from the spot. In the ML position, your best player is 20yo Per Ciljan Skjelbred, who has some fantastic stats. The backup for his position will be 20yo Michael Kleppe Jamtfall, who has a couple of good point to keep you interested, and will improve with good training. The MC slots I would run two AM C. The first will be the starting Captain 37yo Roar Strand. Yes he is old, but with Natural Fitness(19) and Pace(14) on his side, he will still run rings around a lot of younger players. Working alongside him I would have 24yo Slovakian Marek Sapara, who will win matches by himself. On the bench, I think you will get great value out of 21yo Alexander Tettey a MC, who is already a very handy player. All other Midfielders that haven't been mentioned, need to be seriously looked at. Whether you want to try and train them up, or sell them off to buy players for other positions, is really up to you.
Best Midfielder: Roar Strand
Strikers:
In the strike force you have 4 ST, 2 that are also AM's. Your best ST is former Tottenham and Wolverhampton ST 30yo Steffen Iversen. His stats are very good with Finishing(14), Composure(12), Heading(17) and Penalty Taking(18). Beside him I would play 23yo Burkina Faso native Yssouf Kone. His stats aren't good, but they are the best of the rest. Off the bench I would be running 17yo Jo Sondre Aas, who is an AM L/FC. You could use another good ST, to push Yssouf Kone onto the bench, so you can train up the youngsters.
Best Striker: Steffen Iversen
Recommended Sales:
The midfielders I didn't mention above, if they don't show too much promise I would sell them off, as your Midfield is very, very strong..
Recommended Transfers:
I would look for a quality DL, even a young one as backup. You also need a second quality ST/FC. Midfield is great as it is. No change required there. In this squad, there is plenty of depth besides the couple of positions mentioned.
