Biography
At 195cm (6ft 5in), Samba is a very tall defender. Samba started his career at FC Rouen, then moved to CS Sedan and eventually to Hertha Berlin.
At Hertha Berlin he struggled to cement a first team place and was eventually brought to Blackburn Rovers by manager Mark Hughes for a small fee of 400k in January 2007, signing a three and a half year deal. Samba made his debut against Luton Town in the FA Cup and his Premier League debut against Chelsea as a substitute, his first start was at home to Sheffield United. Samba scored his first goal at Ewood Park against West Ham United in March.
After impressing on his debut season in the Premier League Samba become a first team regular in Blackburn’s Team. In October 2007, the club announced he had signed a new deal that would keep him at the club until the summer of 2012.
Despite being born in France, Samba plays International football for Congo, being capped 20 times.
In-Game
In FM 2008 the powerful defender can be snapped up at the start of the game for a very small sum of 1.4 Million, which in my opinion is one of the bargains of the game. Christopher Samba does not require high wages and should be willing to join any top half Premier League team at least.
Strengths
Samba is a great solid Centre Back, I Bought him for my Arsenal side and I have played 14 games only conceding 8 goals. His defnsive Attributes are great. I would advise to use him in the ‘corner trick’ to challenge the goalkeeper as he will score a great amount of goals for your side
His technical stats include Heading, Marking and tackling all over 15.
His Mental Attributes are great for any defender with Aggression, Anticipation, Bravery, Concentration, Descisions, Positioning, Teamwork and Work rate all 15 or over.
His physical attributes are all very high with none below a rating of 10, his Jumping and Strength are an awesome 20, whilst Pace, Stamina, Fitness and Balance are all 15 or over.
Weaknesses
Samba has no real weaknesses for a defender although his attacking stats aren’t very good, he is very poor at set-pieces with stats all below 10.
Conclusion
He is a great player and will improve greatly for you. You must buy him at the beginning of the game because after a few season his price would have increased greatly. Overall he has amazing defensive attributes and will get loads of goals with great heading.
