Club: Fulham
Position: Striker
Height: 183 cm
Born: Palm Coast (FL), USA
Biography
Johnson began training at the Bradenton Academy at a young age and became an established member of the US Under 17 Soccer Team. Johnson became one of the youngest players to sign for the MLS, he was drafted by Dallas as a Project 40 player in the second round of the 2001 MLS SuperDraft. In his first three seasons Johnson was too inconsistent only scoring 7 goals although missing lots of matches due to playing for the US youth side.
At The FIFA World youth Championship Johnson finished with the Golden Shoe (Top Scorer) scoring four goals (Three penalties) becoming the youngest MLS Player to do so.
Johnson then became a first team regular rejected the chance to join Benfica in which would have been a record Transfer for the MLS.
In January 2008 Johnson joined Fulham signing a contract until the summer of 2011. At Fulham Johnson failed to continue his MLS goal-scoring form and now for the 2008/2009 season he has been loaned out to Championship side Cardiff City
In-Game
In FM 2008 the quick striker can be bought at the start of the game for a small fee of 3 Million pounds, which in my opinion is a reasonable price. Eddie Johnson does not require high wages and should be willing to join any club in the Premier League and clubs in other countries, although he may be hard to get him to join in the first season as he has only recently joined his current club, Fulham.
Strengths
Eddie Johnson is a fast striker, he is an explosive striker, he is very athletic and good at penalties.
His technical stats aren’t his strongest point although most stats are over 10, including dribbling and finishing that are both 12, his strongest technical stat is penalty taking, a high 15.
His Mental Attributes are again not his strongest although his bravery is 15, with Aggression, Flair, Positioning and Teamwork all over 10 you can tell he is an explosive striker.
His physical attributes are all extremely high, he is very athletic and strong, with all Physical stats over 10 you can see why, Acceleration and Pace are 17 and 18. His agility is 15, Balance 17 and Jumping 16 which makes him good in the air despite a average height. His Fitness is also great with a stat of 18.
Weaknesses
Johnson has poor stats in First Touch, Technique, Composure, Concentration, and Descisions meaning he is not the best when it comes to goals per shots, but hopefully this will not put you off buying him.
Conclusion
He is a great player for any Lower Premiership team. He may also be willing to come to Championship level after a few seasons.
I give him a rating of 6-7/10
