(FM23) The Nearly Men – 2029/30 – Panathinaikos
Well it’s been another mad Summer, bids galore and some tough times trying to improve the squad whilst keeping hold of my key and balancing the squad to adhere to the Champions League squad rules.

(FM23) The Nearly Men – 2028/29 Season – Panathinaikos
I always expected this Summer to be one of change but I expected me to be in control of that change!! What has happened this season is an absolute decimation of my first team. Bid, after bid, after bid, the bigger clubs came calling and my boys decided it was time of them to go. […]

(FM23) The Nearly Men – 2027/28 – Panathinaikos
A new season begins, this season we need to start pushing on in the Champions League, this is what the challenge is all about and after 5 seasons the furthest I’ve got is the Last 16 when we had a favourable draw, since then we have failed to get past the playoff round, we have […]

(FM23) The Nearly Men – 2026/27 Season – Panathinaikos
It has been a very busy Summer so far and although there is still a few weeks of the transfer window left, unless anyone else leaves I don’t play on bringing anyone else in, that’s mainly because my Champions League squad is now full!

(FM23) The Nearly Men – 2025/26 Season – Panathinaikos
A new season is here, can we make to back-to-back-to back League Titles? Well we have £49m to spend so I think it’s time to take this side to another level.

(FM23) The Nearly Men – 2024/25 Season – Panathinaikos
Transfer Update & Champions League Qualifiers It’s been a busy Summer, I expected a few players to leave, we had some out of contract players who has decided to move on, what I didn’t expect was for some of the bids that came in for some my first team players. This means there has been […]

(FM23) The Nearly Men – The Challenge, Setup and Club Reveal
Welcome back. So I haven’t decided to return to blogging as such but I have decided to copy and paste my SI Forum thread updates into blog posts for those who want it in blog post form and also it’s much easier for me to look back on in the future. So if you are […]

FM23 Challenge Idea – The Fallen
Welcome to my second post where I suggest some interesting and different saves which you could try on the latest incarnation of Football Manager. In the previous post I took you through 5 different challenges but in this post I am going to concentrate on 1 challenge which I thought up whilst bored on a […]

5 Different Challenges for FM23
Well hello there! So for FM23 I have decided to throw away the save updates and concentrate on some new content. Guides, “experiments”, etc. So for my first post I thought I’d discuss some challenges that you could try on the new version of Football Manager. These aren’t the normal challenges that you would hear […]

The All Nations Challenge #16
Welcome back! Another season down with Paderborn, last season went well, 10 nations ticked off in the challenge and a decent 6th placed finish. Time to continue ticking nations off, the pool of players though are shrinking massively, 59 left to get and all of them are outside the top 100 in the World rankings!

The All Nations Challenge #15
Welcome back to my first full season at Paderborn, a drop down in division from my time at Wolfsburg but this is the best shot I have at ticking off as many of the nations I have left. It is still going to be very tough though! Expectations are high though, the board expect a […]

The All Nations Challenge #14
Welcome back! So here we go, operation “find a club in 2.Bundesliga, do well, but not well enough to go up” is here! For me this is the only way I am going to have any chance to get anywhere near completing this challenge. After my sacking from Wolfsburg it became evidently clear I was […]

The All Nations Challenge #13
Welcome back to another season in Germany, my 4th full season with Wolfsburg. Challenge-wise this save is going amazingly but as mentioned in my last post it is about to get very difficult. 80 nations left, not a single nation in the top 80 in the World, the highest nation left is Panama. So for […]

The All Nations Challenge #12
Welcome back! Wolfsburg are Bundesliga Champions! I did not think I’d be saying that after only 3 seasons in charge. The last campaign was utterly amazing, title winners and my best season in the Challenge to date, 17 nations ticked off. Now the hard work begins, expectations are really high but if I want to […]

The All Nations Challenge #11
Welcome back. Last season was a huge success, 3rd in the league, an amazing run to the Champions Leagues semis and a German Cup win, I also ticked off a whole load of nations in the challenge meaning I am now just over half way to completing it. This season we don’t have loads of […]

The All Nations Challenge #10
Welcome back. Champions League football has returned to Wolfsburg. My first full season in charge was a huge success, 4th place in the Bundesliga and a whole raft of nations ticked off in the challenge. Money though is tighter than it has been, gone are the big budgets, we have £30m to spend so we […]

The All Nations Challenge #9
Welcome back! A new season awaits, my first full season at Wolfsburg. Hopes are high, we are expected to end 5th, personally, with the money we have to spend (£75m) I fully expect to push the top 4. Bayern, Liepzig and Dortmund seem a step too far currently but my aim this season is to […]

The All Nations Challenge #8
Welcome back. Viktoria Berlin are into the Bundesliga, probably too quickly in my opinion, we have a very very tough season ahead! This post could be quite long as there is one big twist to come!!

The All Nations Challenge #7
Welcome back to what is probably one of the most enjoyable seasons I’ve had on FM for a very long time! Last time out we were so close to a shock promotion to the Bundesliga, missing out on the promotion playoff spot on the last day of the season. We also managed to tick off […]

The All Nations Challenge #6
Welcome back. After last seasons amazing 2.Bundesliga campaign where we ended a respectable 11th place we now need to start kicking on. Expectations are still really low but I have hope we can at least match last seasons finish. This season for me, with the extra money to spend, is all about ticking off nations. […]

The All Nation Challenge #5
Welcome Back! Viktoria Berlin are into the 2.Bundesliga but we’re predicted to end rock rock bottom! 800-1 on the season preview. We have a very tough task ahead but financially, being in this tier, is going to massively help us out, £7.6m for ending bottom! Yeah I’ll take that!

The All Nations Challenge #4
Welcome back! Another season down and I have to admit I am bloody enjoying this! Last season we were so close to an unexpected promotion but unfortunately we lost in the promotion playoff, so it’s a 4th season in 3.Liga for me, the expectations are still low, the board and media expect us to be […]

(FM22) The All Nations Challenge #3
Welcome back. Another season in Germany is over with Viktoria Berlin, last season was another decent one on the pitch, challenge-wise though it could’ve been better. Now is the time to kick on, financially we need to go up, let’s hope I can balance the challenge and the need for a promotion push.

(FM22) The All Nations Challenge #2
I always think the second season in a save is the toughest, well this one has been properly tough! Results wise it’s been OK but this challenge is really really hard, especially when you go out and sign 18 different nations, most of whom are terrible!!!

(FM22) The All Nations Challenge #1
Welcome back! Firstly, thank you so much for the support on the intro post, the comments, interaction and general positivity I’ve had has been nothing short of amazing and for that I thank each and every one of you. Anyway, soppy shit out the way let’s get down to business.

(FM22) – The All Nations Challenge
I bet you weren’t expecting this were you?! Rather tentatively, I’m back writing again, I have no hopes or expectations with this new series, I just want to play a save and chart my progress along the way, if you all enjoy it and join me for the ride then that would be fantastic!

(FM22) Tiers of Joy #25 – The Return!
Welcome back! A new club has been found! It hasn’t actually long at all, a week in fact after resigning from Blagoevgrad. When I saw the list of nations I could go to there were 2 clubs that instantly stood out for me, both I have managed at on previous FMs, so when one of […]

(FM22) Tiers of Joy #24 – Blagoevgrad 42/43 Season Review
Welcome back. My second full season in Bulgaria is over, somehow, amazingly, last season we won the League, it was an incredible campaign, helped by an amazing tactical change which sent us on an sensational run to claim our first ever league title. So now all I have to do is win the Bulgarian Cup […]

(FM22) Tiers of Joy #23 – Blagoevgrad 2041/42 Season Review
Welcome back! My first full season in Bulgaria is over and I won’t lie, this has been the most fun I’ve had on FM in a very long while. How come? I hear you ask. Well it revolves around me actually making a tactical tweak after a poor run of results and it working…..this doesn’t […]

(FM22) Tiers of Joy #22 – Blagoevgrad – 2040/41 Season Review
Welcome back! Well that didn’t take long did it?! I’m already well into the swing and so pleased to be playing this save, especially when I never thought I would. Thank you new patch! The season is over with Pirin Blageovgrad in Bulgaria, I joined with 12 games of the regular season to go with […]

(FM22) Tiers of Joy #21 – The Return
Welcome back! Well I bet you didn’t expect this did you?! That’s right “Tiers of Joy” is back baby!!!! Most of you who follow the blog will more likely follow me on Twitter so you will know what’s happened but for those that don’t here’s the story. Someone messaged me on Twitter and told me […]

(FM22) The Quest #11 – 2031/32 Season Review – Athletic Bilbao
Welcome back! My first full season at Bilbao is over, it’s been tough, especially in the transfer market but it’s also been great fun, having to work with a smaller pool of players and also having to blood some of the younger lads into a side where everyone expects us to qualify for Europe has […]

(FM22) The Quest #10 – 2030/31 Season Review
Welcome back! Spurs are back in the Champions League, that’s the first time we can say that in this save and it’s now 2030! We did really well last season ending 3rd but we need to kick on now. If you haven’t already then go and check out the last post, there’s a little bit […]

(FM22) The Quest #9 – Spurs 2029/30 Season Review
Welcome back! Well here we are, the end of my first full season at Spurs and it’s been a bloody great campaign, full of change, as expected! Last season we ended really well but missed out on a European spot by the skin of our teeth, this year however we need to qualify for Europe, […]

(FM22) The Quest #8 – 2028/29 Season Review
Welcome back to the financial mess that is Bolton Wanderers, my word this is tough! Somehow though we are massively overachieving, last season, our first back in Championship was a big success, an amazing end to the season meant we ended in 15th place. This season is huge though, for many many reasons!

(FM22) The Quest #7 – Bolton 27/28 Season
Welcome back! Back to back promotions, from League Two to the Championship in two seasons, sounds amazing doesn’t it? It was totally unexpected to be this far up the English pyramid this quick with a team of misfits, those players smashed it last season in League One, however the pressure is on. This team is […]

(FM22) The Quest #6 – Bolton 2026/27 Season Review
Welcome back! Well last season went well didn’t it? An absolute demolition of League Two by my Bolton team in my first season in charge, and with that an immediate return to League One. Now we need to push on, expectations are surprisingly high for a newly promoted team, the board want top half, the […]

(FM22) The Quest #5 – 2025/26 Season Review – But With Who?
Welcome back! When I left you last I had just managed the unthinkable, I had gotten Dorking Wanderers into the football league, for the first time in their history. In the previous post however I said, near the end, that I felt I had taken them far enough, so if a bigger job came in […]

(FM22) The Quest #4 – Dorking 2024/25 Season Review
Welcome back! After last seasons heroic 8th place finish, where we missed out on the playoffs by the skin of our teeth and an FA Trophy final defeat I really do feel we have a huge chance of something special this season. Money is tight however so we need to be careful with what we […]

(FM22) The Quest #3 – Dorking 2023/24 Season Review
Welcome back, we’re into the National League for the first time ever! Now we have to somehow get a team together that has a chance of staying up, we are predicted to be ending near the bottom but I have faith we can do a lot better than that! Resources are needed though but we […]

(FM22) The Quest #2 – Dorking 2022/23 Season Review
Welcome back! Well here we are, my first full season at Dorking is over, last season was really good, in my 15 games in charge we averaged around 2 points a game, this season though the pressure is ramping up, as you will see in a bit we are favourites to win the National League […]

(FM22) The Quest #1 – A job!
Welcome back! Well here we are, my the first season is over and I’m sure you will guess, as the title suggests, I have a job! I holidayed until January 1st 2022 and then went on a job hunt, it took just over a month before an enticing offer came up and I took it! […]

(FM22) Quitting in January? Hell No
I remember an old “friend” of mine in the FM Community a few years ago telling me that nearly all FM bloggers have quit by January, I took massive exception to that and at the time it drove me to keep ploughing on through my FM20 save to see it through to the end of […]

(FM22) Tiers of Joy #20 – NS Mura 2038/39 Season Review
I had planned to not publish this for a few days, my game play is a bit ahead of my blog posts but with what has happened today I felt it only right to publish it now. The final few paragraphs are massively important so please read all the way to the end (or just […]

(FM22) Tiers of Joy #19 – A quick departure + another season review
Welcome back! Well I didn’t stay in Poland long, a month to be exact, I had said in the previous post that if the right job came up I would take but that I’d stay at Jagiellonia until that happened, well it happened quick! There we a couple of jobs that took my eye over […]

(FM22) Tiers of Joy #18 – Jagiellonia 2036/37 Season Review
Welcome back! Well last season was incredible, after the debacle of Slovakia I found myself a new club, Jagiellonia Białystok in Poland and in my first season in charge we won the league! It was an amazing season but now we have hard work ahead, we have to win the Polish FA Cup to move […]

(FM22) Tiers of Joy #17 – A Fresh Start
The last post wasn’t a nice one to write, my time in Slovakia with Zlate Moravce ended rather prematurely after a disastrous second season in charge, I fell out with the board after a poor run of results and an emergency meeting was called where, after one poor answer, I was shown the door.

(FM22) Tiers of Joy #16 – Breaking Unexpected News
Welcome back to a very short and rather frustrating update! When I left you last I had just completed my first season in Slovakia with Zlate Moravce. We had ended the season in 4th place and missed out on a European spot on goal difference and then a poor defeat in the European playoffs.
