Welcome back! Well here we are, the end of my first season in Slovakia with Zlate Moravce and my first season in Tier 5 of my challenge. I have to admit it’s been a tough season but a really fun one. So let’s not hang about and see how it’s gone!

(FM22) Tiers of Joy #14 – Into Tier 5 we go!
Welcome back! Well my time in Tier 6 is over, it was great fun in Latvia, Wales and Finland but now I’m moving on up! Tier 5 awaits and with that a new set of nations to try and conquer. Romania, Belarus, Slovakia, Slovenia and Poland are where I am now looking and I cannot […]

(FM22) Tiers of Joy #13 – HJK 2032 Season Review
Welcome back! Well here we are, the end of my first season in Finland with HJK, the big question though is will it be my only season here? The plan when I took over to was win and win quick. HJK are one of the most successful clubs in Finland and although they haven’t won […]

(FM22) Tiers of Joy #12 – Club Number 3!
Goodbye Aberystwyth, it’s been a pleasure but it’s now time for pastures new. I resigned straight after the final whistle in the Welsh Cup final and immediately went on a job hunt. It took 6 months of game-time to find the perfect job but eventually I have what is hopefully my final job in Tier […]

(FM22) Tiers of Joy #11 – Aberystwyth 2030/31 Season Review
Welcome back. Everyone calmed down after the last post? I think I have….just about. If you haven’t checked it out then please do so before you read any further. Last season was crazy, we were SO close to winning the league title, we had it in our grasp until the final few games where we […]

(FM22) Tiers of Joy #10 – Aberystwyth 2029/30 Season Review
Welcome back one and all to the “try and somehow overtake TNS show”, it’s now 225 games and over 6 seasons since they lost a game but this season I have hope. We had one ridiculously good intake with at least 2 players who are guaranteed starters and we also have belief, I fully believe […]

(FM22) Tiers of Joy #9 – Aberystwyth 28/29 Season Review
Welcome back! My 2nd season with Aberystwyth is over in Wales and after last seasons fantastic league campaign where we ended as runners-up I have European football to look forward to. Now the big aim is to somehow overtake TNS at the top, not easy when they’ve been unbeaten for 6 seasons! Luck is needed!

(FM22) Tiers of Joy #8 – Aberystwyth Town 27/28 Review
Welcome back! Well here we are, my first season with Aberystwyth in Wales is over and it’s been amazing. It’s always a worry leaving a club you’ve had so much fun at but this move has been brilliant, now we just have to somehow find a way to get past TNS who are ridiculous in […]

(FM22) Tiers of Joy #7 – Club Number 2
Well that didn’t take long did it!? It’s actually taken 6 months of game time to find a new job but it’s flown by due to my new speedy laptop! I won’t lie though it’s been tough to find the right job, the big issue was finding a club capable of challenging quickly, i.e. being […]

(FM22) Tiers of Joy #6 – FK Metta 2026 Season Review
Well here we are again! I’m now into my 5th season with FK Metta in Latvia and things are going pretty well. Last season was our highest League finish so far, 2nd place but still way behind Riga, I have high hopes though, our form last season picked up massively once I decided to screw […]

(FM22) Tiers of Joy #4 – FK Metta 2024 Season Review
Welcome back. I’m now into my 3rd season with FK Metta in Latvia and things are going pretty well. Last season we ended 5th, just missing out on European football which was a disappointment but overall the improvement in our squad and performances is really pleasing. Now I need to kick on, with the challenge […]

Tiers of Joy #3 – FK Metta 2023 Season Review
Welcome back, wow these seasons are going quick! I guess it helps when the season isn’t that long and I have been ill, some would call it man flu (my wife being some). Last season was brilliant, I got Metta to 4th place in the Latvian Higher League, a rise of 3 places from the […]

(FM22) Tiers of Joy #2 – FK Metta 2022 Season Review
Welcome back! The end of the first season is here and I have to admit it’s been a lot of fun. For those who may have missed the previous post then I suggest going there first to see which club my journey will begin with (even though it gives it away in the blog title!)

(FM22) Tiers of Joy #1 – Job Number One!
Well here we are! The past two weeks of the Beta has felt like an eternity but eventually the full game has been released and that means my main save can kick off. I am so excited to get this going and from the comments and interaction I’ve had on the previous post it seems […]

To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often #fm22
Well here we are, it was just over a month ago I wrote a post telling you my plans for FM22 and now I’m writing to tell you it’s all changed!! Thank you for the quote in the title Mr Churchill! My plan at the beginning of October was to not write save updates on […]

Goodbye FM21, but what next for FM22?
Well here we are, the end of another fantastic version of FM. FM21 has had it’s doubters and it’s criticism but for it’s been one of the best. I always say though, your enjoyment of a version mainly boils down to finding a save that you fall in love with and that is more than […]

FC Andorra-Season 3 Review-A New Stadium
If you had asked me what do I want from a first season in La Liga after two consecutive promotions I would have snapped your hands of at safety and what transpired was simply out of this world for a team with a stadium capacity of 1’221. Let’s see how FC Andorra take on the […]

(FM21) Quilmes #4 – 2036/37 Season Review
Here we are again! Last season’s amazing 4th place finish in our first season back in the Primera Division will live long in the memory, we were expected to end in the bottom 3, we ended up qualifying for the Copa Libertadores. Now we move on to another season, expectations are still pretty low which […]

Going Dutch – First Impressions & New Additions
On first look, I was impressed with the squad awaiting me at Feyenoord. A first XI of real talent, had some really nice young prospects in it, as well as decent experienced professionals. It was however, a little thin in quality, as backup options showed a sharp decline from first teamers. It also had a […]

Going Dutch – A new chapter
After leaving Espanyol, the summer of 2024 offered plenty of opportunities to apply for new jobs that all offered their own reasons for excitement. Unsuccessful interviews at Valencia and AZ Alkmaar left me unemployed as the season started. I turned down the chance to go into international management with both Turkey and Sweden after both […]

(FM21) Quilmes #3 – 2035/36 Season Review
Welcome back! So I tried out a different style of updating and although I enjoyed it and the feedback was mainly positive I found it really hard to do. It meant continuous updating throughout the season and it was real hard work! The old style of updating was a damn sight easier and although there […]

Adios Espanyol
We went into the 2022/23 wanting to push on and challenge for european places, after a solid 13th place finish in our return to La Liga.

(FM21) Quilmes #2 – 2034/35 Season Review
Well here we are, my first full season in Argentina with Quilmes is here and after an amazing second half of the campaign last time around my hopes are high. Expectations are also really high, the media expect us to end 5th, the board expect us “to finish in the top four places”, I have […]

FC Andorra- Building A Nation Season 1 Review
Good things come to those who wait, every year we wait patiently for the next installment of Football Manager so we can live out some crazy dream about taking our local pub team to Champions League glory. Welcome Back! Last season was brilliant, my first league stage win, well we actually managed to win both stages and in style! Unfortunately we screwed up in the cup final but that couldn’t take away from an absolutely stunning season. Now is the time to push on though, we can’t be complacent, HOF points are […]

We did win the Copa Colombia last year which was great and progressed to the Copa Libertadores quarter finals, a good season but I know we can do much better, we […]

Viva Espanyol – Hello’s, Goodbye’s and White Lies.
In my last piece, the theme was really that we had succeeded in our aim of a safe mid-table finish, but it was all a little too safe for me. We never looked like threatening the top half or European places.

(FM21) The South American Hall of FM-ame – An Update
Welcome back to this rather impromptu update! I won’t beat around the bush with it, the time has come to move on. My 6 seasons at Everton de VIna have been nothing short of incredible and I do this with a heavy heart but I know deep down this is the right thing to do.

(FM21) The South American Hall of FM-ame – Everton de Viña 2026 Season Review
Welcome back! Another season down, my 6th at Everton de Viña, last season we got back on track, our second league and cup double in the save so far and our most dominant season yet. Things are looking up, we have so many amazing young players coming through the ranks that we really don’t need […]

Viva Espanyol – Wheeling & Dealing
After our tricky start to the season, we picked up our first win on our 6th attempt with a 2-0 win at Getafe. The results for our first half of the season were very incosistent with us picking up some impressive wins such as 6-2 at Las Palmas & 2-1 at Sevilla, but too often […]

Viva Espanyol – In’s and Out’s, and a tough start.
With top flight football on the horizon, it was obvious we would need to make changes to our squad in order to meet the board’s expectation of a mid-table finish. One that with the right additions, I felt was acheivable.
